Seagull Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Anna Kainova (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information in connection with the Seagull macOS application, its locally operated backend, and related features (collectively, the “App”).

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information processed through the App. It does not apply to third-party websites, applications, AI models, or services that have their own privacy policies.

Resemble is the controller of personal information that it receives for App authentication, support, and related operations. Voice samples, synthesis text, and generated audio used through the App’s local configuration remain on your device and are not received by Resemble for speech generation.

2. How the App Processes Voice and Text

Voice cloning and text-to-speech inference occur on your Mac through a backend service bound to the local loopback interface. The following content is processed locally:

  • microphone recordings and imported voice samples;
  • reference audio;
  • text and prompts submitted for synthesis;
  • model parameters and generation settings; and
  • generated audio.

The App does not upload this content to Resemble for cloud-based voice cloning or synthesis.

Voice recordings may constitute biometric or sensitive personal information under certain laws. The App does not use voice samples to identify or authenticate individuals. You are responsible for obtaining all legally required permissions before recording, importing, cloning, or synthesizing another person’s voice.

3. Information Stored on Your Device

The App stores information locally in macOS Application Support and cache locations, including:

  • voice samples and temporary microphone recordings;
  • generated audio and exported files;
  • downloaded AI model weights;
  • generation history, including synthesis text, model selections, parameters, status, and errors;
  • application and backend logs, which may include request metadata and limited text previews;
  • authentication tokens and an anonymous authentication identifier;
  • your acknowledgement of the voice-cloning terms; and
  • files generated through the optional local MCP feature.

This information remains until you delete it through available App controls, remove the relevant files or application data, clear macOS caches, or uninstall the App and delete its remaining data. Removing the App alone may not remove all files in Application Support.

4. Authentication

The App uses Google Firebase services to provide anonymous authentication. When the App creates or restores an anonymous session, the following information may be processed by Google and Resemble:

  • an anonymous Firebase user identifier;
  • authentication and refresh tokens;
  • app-instance and service-request information; and
  • technical information ordinarily transmitted with an internet request, such as IP address, device or operating-system information, and request metadata.

Authentication tokens may also be stored locally (including in the Keychain on packaged builds) to maintain your session across reinstalls. The App may store a count of successful free-trial generations in Firebase associated with your anonymous identifier so the trial limit can be enforced after reinstallation. The App does not use Firebase to upload voice samples, synthesis text, or generated audio for speech generation.

5. Analytics and Diagnostics

The App includes the Firebase Analytics software development kit. In the current release, Firebase Analytics collection is configured as disabled, and the App does not log custom analytics events. The App may assign the anonymous authentication identifier to the Firebase analytics instance as part of session initialization.

The current release does not include Firebase Crashlytics and does not automatically submit crash reports to Resemble. If analytics or diagnostic collection is enabled in a future release, this Privacy Policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before that collection begins where required by law.

6. Microphone Access

The App requests microphone access only when needed to record a voice sample. Recordings are processed and stored locally unless you export or share them.

You may grant or revoke microphone access at any time in macOS System Settings under Privacy & Security → Microphone. Revoking access prevents new microphone recordings but does not automatically delete recordings already stored on your device.

7. Model Downloads and Other Network Activity

The App uses the internet to authenticate users and download AI models and related files. Model files may be obtained from Resemble-operated infrastructure or third-party providers, including Hugging Face and Cloudflare-hosted content delivery or object-storage services.

When the App connects to a model host or other third-party service, that provider may receive your IP address, request metadata, app or library version, and other technical information necessary to provide the requested file. Third-party libraries used for model downloads may transmit limited telemetry according to their own settings and privacy policies.

The App may also open support, documentation, model-license, or developer websites when you request it. Those websites process information under their own privacy policies.

8. Local Backend and MCP Features

The App’s inference backend listens only on the loopback interface on your Mac (127.0.0.1). Voice samples, synthesis text, generated audio, parameters, and related request information are exchanged between the App and that local backend and are not sent to Resemble for speech generation.

The optional Model Context Protocol (“MCP”) feature also operates on the local loopback interface and may allow other software running on your Mac to request generation, provide synthesis text, and access generated files. You are responsible for controlling which local software can connect to that service.

9. Support Communications

If you contact us for support, we process the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, attachments, and troubleshooting information. Do not send voice samples, authentication tokens, or other sensitive content unless requested through an approved support channel and necessary to resolve your request.

We process personal information for the following purposes:

  • to authenticate users and operate account-related App features;
  • to operate, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the App and related services;
  • to respond to support requests;
  • to prevent misuse, fraud, and security incidents;
  • to comply with legal obligations and enforce the Seagull Terms of Use; and
  • to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users, Resemble, and third parties.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the App, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

11. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information:

  • to service providers that process information on our behalf, including Google Firebase and hosting or infrastructure providers;
  • to professional advisers, auditors, insurers, and legal representatives where reasonably necessary;
  • to law-enforcement, regulators, courts, or other parties when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or security;
  • in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of all or part of our business; and
  • at your direction or with your consent.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and the App does not display targeted advertising.

12. Retention

Information stored locally remains on your device until you delete it or remove the related application data.

We retain anonymous authentication records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and secure the App, enforce our terms, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. Support communications are retained for as long as necessary to respond to the request and maintain appropriate business records. We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer required, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

13. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information under our control. Authentication credentials are stored in the Keychain on packaged builds (with a local Application Support fallback for development builds), and network communications with Firebase and model providers use their supported transport-security mechanisms.

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Mac, operating-system account, local network, exported files, and any third-party software connected through MCP.

14. International Transfers

Resemble and its service providers may process information in Canada, the United States, and other countries where they operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we use recognized legal mechanisms and safeguards for international transfers.

15. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • request access to or a copy of personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction or deletion;
  • restrict or object to processing;
  • withdraw consent;
  • request portability of information you provided;
  • appeal a decision concerning a privacy request; and
  • lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.

To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. Because the App uses anonymous authentication, we may ask for your anonymous user identifier or other information needed to locate the relevant record and verify the request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

You can delete locally stored content directly from your Mac. A request sent to Resemble cannot delete files that remain solely on your device.

16. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where local law sets a higher age for independent consent to data processing, a parent or legal guardian must authorize use of the App. If you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of this section, contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

17. Third-Party Services

Third-party services and model providers are governed by their own privacy policies. Relevant providers may include:

  • Apple, for Mac App Store distribution and purchase processing;
  • Google Firebase, for authentication and free-trial generation metering;
  • Hugging Face, for model hosting and downloads; and
  • Cloudflare or other content-delivery and object-storage providers, for model delivery.

Resemble is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third parties.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App, law, or our practices. We will revise the Effective Date and provide any additional notice required by law. If a change materially affects how we process information, we will provide notice through the App, the App Store listing, or another reasonable method before the change takes effect where required.
